Curriculum / Cwricwlwm

At Ysgol Tan y Gopa, we are proud to deliver a broad, balanced and engaging curriculum that inspires children to become lifelong learners. Our curriculum has been carefully designed in line with the Curriculum for Wales, providing exciting opportunities for children to develop the knowledge, skills and experiences they need to succeed both now and in the future.

Learning is built around meaningful, real-life contexts that encourage curiosity, creativity and collaboration. Through high-quality teaching and a wide range of enriching experiences, we support every child to make excellent progress academically, socially and emotionally.

Our curriculum reflects the needs of our local community whilst preparing children to become ambitious, capable learners; enterprising, creative contributors; ethical, informed citizens; and healthy, confident individuals. These Four Purposes underpin everything we do and are at the heart of learning at Ysgol Tan y Gopa.

Children develop their literacy, numeracy and digital skills across all areas of learning and experience, alongside opportunities to explore Welsh language and culture, health and wellbeing, expressive arts, science and technology, humanities and physical development. We believe that learning should be memorable, inclusive and enjoyable, enabling every child to achieve their full potential.

Guided by our school motto, ‘Roots to Grow, Stars to Reach’ (Gwreiddiau i Dyfu, Sêr i’w Cyrraedd), we aim to nurture confident, resilient and compassionate learners who are ready to embrace the opportunities and challenges of the future.
